MISSION

The Charlotte Public Schools Education Foundation provides support for student development opportunities through friends and fundraising.

VISION

The Charlotte Public Schools Education Foundation awards classroom mini-grants to enhance student development and advancement within the guidelines of the Charlotte Public Schools Board of Education.

OUR HISTORY

The Charlotte Public Schools Education Foundation organized and developed by-laws in the fall of 2006 through the spring and summer of 2007. On August 15, 2008 the Foundation received approval from the Internal Revenue Service for tax exempt status as a 501(c)(3) organization.

The Foundation has been established as a separate organization from the school district and is overseen by a dedicated group of community volunteers.

To help fulfill its goals, the Charlotte Public Schools Education Foundation has created an endowment fund within the Capital Region Community Foundation (CRCF). The partnership between the CPS Education Foundation and CRCF may allow donors to qualify for both a federal tax deduction as well as the State of Michigan tax credit for donations to the foundation.

While the foundation is new to the Charlotte area, foundations are nothing new to many other school districts in the state and are used to support the educational needs of local students.
